William Watson’s The Breaking of the Bread is a Civil War drama based within the same time period. It had the impactful message of bringing two mortal enemies together for the simple task of nourishment. The idea of unity through identical human necessities erasing lines drawn in the sand is what intrigued me. Universal plots attract me due to the fact that it plays to no gimmicks and can be absorbed by all readers and audiences. My adaptation revolved around my concept statement, Civil War through Time.

The Punisher as a character lends himself to interpretation. I adored the opportunity to mold a vision around a basic premise of love and revenge. What I did was emphasize more on the heart of Maria and Frank Castle rather than bullets escaping their chambers. Dabbing symbolism and religious imagery amped the intensity of the situations. Reveling in “what if?” scenarios was extremely interesting.
